Reading Program

Over the last few years, JYD has been represented by a few players in a reading program at Green Tree Elementary School. These are the pictures from the first trip there this year, which will be repeated in the upcoming year 2010. The players taught the students about respect and teamwork.

Several times throughout the school year the Junkyard dogs will present a reading program in local schools. This involves several players, management, or coaches going to local schools and speaking about the importance of school and reading. The participants will give a brief talk on the importance of attending school and learning to read, examples of how they use reading in their lives as football players will be given to the students. The players will also demonstrate their equipment and the importance of training and exercise on a daily basis. After speaking to the students the players will split into smaller groups and read to the children. Before leaving the children will be given some sports cards that have been autographed by the players. The West Bend Junkyard dogs are proud to be a part of the community and this is one of many ways we give back to the community.
